10am-4pm daily - Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th and Monday 7th January 2008This is a unique and very special opportunity to dance to arabic traditional instruments live. We have the violin, the oud, the ney, the mizmar, the duduk, the large tabal, the darabouka. Terezka introduces you to the experience of a lifetime. We dance to the classical piece 'Nibtidi Mnein El Hakaya' (If we speak darling, from where will this story begin) This happens daily. We also work to Om Koulsoms stunning composition 'Howa Saheer' deeply and profoundly. We experience dancing to taqasims to oud, violin, ney, duduk and mizmar becoming familiar with 'maqams' the melodies in arabic music and how to express ourselves correctly to them along with chakra healing. In addition traditional saiidi with 2 mizmars and large tabal. We learn about arabic culture, dance technique, spiritual expression, personality and use of floorspace. You will come through this experience enlightened and your dancing will move up a notch or two. The cost is $350 for the 3 full days. A $100 will secure your place. 20 participants only. Starting Saturday 2 February, 11.30 - 1.00pm - $20With Master Teacher Terezka and 4 musicians playing live. Terezka is creating a theatre show to be staged October 2008 - if you are interested in being a part of this or just want to stretch yourself JOIN these special Saturday sessions.
These Saturday classes are open to everyone who is interested in traditional dance from the Orient. Feel free to just Turn Up! |

Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 November 2007Come and support and see performers from our Studio Danse Orientale perform at the MBS on Saturday 10 Nov 4.30-5pm and: the finale on Sunday 5.30-6.30pm at the Exhibition and Convention Centre. We showcase: Moroccan Double Veil, Afro/arabic drum solo, Modern Egyptian and Traditional Saiidi. The Sunday performance also includes a 20 mins finale with live percussion. For those performing please keep Sat October 27 free from 2-5pm for rehearsals at our city studio. |

MONDAY 17 DECEMBER 2007, 6.00 - 7.20pm - $22Terezka is joined by Ghassan Barakat on tabla, Rashid Taka on Violin, Walid Bebe on Ney, Sobhe Samaan, Michael Graf on duduk, Alvaro Gonzalez on persian frame drum for a /cultural/spiritual/dance class. Set in candlelight these sessions allow dancers to express themselves to a variety of styles of arabian music with our arabic professional musicians.
